Enjoying the Beach with Eyelash Extensions
Who’s ready for the Beach?
Summer is here and while others are concerned with their beach bodies, you may have lashes on your mind. Questions like how do I take care of my lashes and is there anything I need to do differently during the summer months?
We can help out with that!
plan ahead.
We recommend waiting a full 24-48 hours before going to the beach, especially if you plan to dive in the ocean. It takes about 4-6 hours for bonding agents to completely seal, so it’s important to avoid heavy water contact on your lash extensions during that period. A light splash or mist is fine, but if you’re absolutely gonna get in the water please avoid completely submerging your head under water. Although not as sexy, goggles can be worn to protect your lashes from salt water and debris. Humid conditions can also be very tricky, so saunas and steam rooms are a huge no-no as they can cause the adhesive to “melt.”
sunglasses are your lashes bff
Wind at the beach can blow sand and that can be very irritating to your eyes and cause your to rub those new extensions - no-no! Please wear your sunnies and take every precaution during that first 24 hours to protect your lash extensions.
What about these Pool Parties?
The same precautions that apply for the beach and your lash extensions also apply to the pool. If possible avoid getting them wet the first 24-48 hours. After that, enjoy yourself but keep these tips in mind. Use swim goggles when submerging your head under water and while swimming laps. DO NOT allow chlorine to sit on your lashes. Rinse them clean because the chemicals may damage the adhesive properties of your lash extensions. Lastly clean them with your lash cleanser.
Sunscreen is a MUST!
You should absolutely wear sunscreen, just apply it carefully. If using the spray, avoid directly spraying onto your face. Use your finger to apply sunscreen and to keep chemical exposure at a minimum.
Dry Them Carefully
Be CAREFUL when drying off with a towel, not to rub your entire face with it. Pat gently and carefully while avoiding your eyes. After you shower, cleanse your lash extensions.
after care is essential
After that initial 24-48 hour period, feel free to get your lashes wet, but remember to cleanse them daily while enjoying the beach or the pool. Salt water, debris, chlorine, etc. should not be sitting on your lashes or your eyes for extended amount of time.
Now that that’s out of the way, you're set to enjoy your lashes beachside or poolside—have fun & look fabulous!
